Medical Billing Specialist

About the Role

Start a healthcare billing career without prior billing experience. You will submit claims and work denials in Epic Resolute for Cascadia Health, a 5,000-employee outpatient clinic network, from its Charlotte revenue-cycle office. This is a 6-month assignment as a W-2 employee of Harbor Recruitment, with extension possible based on performance and business need.

What You'll Do

• Submit outpatient claims in Epic Resolute and clear front-end edits before they leave the door
• Work an assigned denial queue each day, correcting errors and resubmitting within payer deadlines
• Call payers to check claim status and resolve holds on accounts aged past 30 days
• Document every account touch in Epic notes so the next biller can pick up where you left off
• Review coding flags and route ICD-10 and CPT questions to senior billers for correction
• Report recurring denial patterns to your team lead in weekly queue reviews
• Meet a daily production target of 50 to 70 accounts once fully trained

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• 0-2 years of office, customer service, or healthcare admin experience
• Accurate data entry and comfort working from two screens all day
• Clear, professional phone and written communication with payers and teammates
• Ability to learn new software quickly; Epic experience is not required and training is provided
• Ability to handle protected health information under HIPAA rules after training
• Reliable on-site attendance in Charlotte, Monday through Friday

Nice to Have

• Prior work in a medical office, pharmacy, or insurance setting
• Familiarity with EOBs, ICD-10, or CPT codes
• Exposure to Epic or another EHR system
• Coursework toward a billing certificate such as CPB or CBCS
