Manufacturing Project Engineer

About the Role

Own capital projects from scope to startup on Ironline's Calgary machining line. You will lead $250K to $2M projects covering new cell layouts, robot tending, and PLC upgrades across a floor of 40-plus CNC machines. The work is hands-on, close to production, and yours to run from justification through handoff.

What You'll Do

• Lead capex projects from $250K to $2M through scoping, justification, installation, and handoff on the machining line
• Design new machining cell layouts and manage contractors through install and commissioning
• Specify and integrate robot tending cells for CNC lathes and machining centers
• Plan PLC and controls upgrades with the maintenance team, including migrations off legacy platforms
• Build project schedules and budgets, then report progress to plant leadership monthly
• Coordinate shutdown windows with production and maintenance so installs land on schedule
• Work with EHS on machine guarding, lockout points, and pre-startup safety reviews

What You'll Bring

• 4-7 years of project or manufacturing engineering experience in a machining or metals environment
• Track record of delivering capital projects of $250K or more on time and on budget
• Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial controls, Allen-Bradley preferred
• Experience specifying or integrating robots or other automated equipment
• Ability to produce and revise plant layouts in AutoCAD or similar
• Comfort managing vendors and contractors on an active plant floor
• Solid grasp of machine safeguarding and pre-startup safety review practices

Nice to Have

• P.Eng. or eligibility for registration with APEGA
• FANUC robot programming or robot cell simulation experience
• Lean manufacturing training or a Six Sigma Green Belt
• Familiarity with CSA Z432 machine guarding requirements
